Don’t let the affordable Magpul Field Case fool you, its a great case.
Magpul Field Case Review – One of our goto cases
Today we’re going to do a review of the Magpul Field Case for the iPhone 6S+’s. This is a slim iPhone case that easy to put on and is oddly grippy despite not feeling grippy. This has become one of our favourites despite not being the highest rated which we’ll elaborate in a bit.
For our Magpul Field Case Review, we’ve given this case a score of 4.1 Eh’s out of 5. This puts it on the same level as the Lunatik Seismik, the Poetic Revolution and Ballistic Urbanite. If you’re looking for other slim cases, check out the comparison tool for slim iPhone cases.

Design – Light but a tad bulky
In terms of design, the Field case is a light, well fitting case but is a little bulkier than other cases. The field case maintains shape well and doesn’t show excessive wear/tear. In fact the materials are fairly scratch resistant which is nice.
We were quite surprised at the texture of the case as its not terribly grippy. It doesn’t have a rubber feel to it but for some odd reason, once the iPhone is in your hand, the case sits well and it doesn’t feel like it’s going to slip out accidentally. The PMAG style ribs on the case also help and its this combination of texture and ribs that makes this case one of my favourite.

Protection – Good for minor bumps and scratches
In terms of protection, this case isn’t drop rated, its not lined with a shock absorbing center like the Magpul Bump case is and doesn’t come with a screen protector but for 17 bucks, what do you expect?
The edges of the case are high enough to keep it off a flat surface and the case will protect against minor bumps and abrasions so if you’re not terrible with your iPhone, the Field case might be all you need.

Functionality – Yep, get to your iPhone with ease
In terms of functionality, getting to your iPhone is a cinch as the buttons are easy to use and the case generally doesn’t get in the way of anything. The cutouts are larger for 3rd party cables and fits.

Again, we gave this case a score of 4.1 Eh’s out of 5. Have questions about our Magpul Field Case Review? Please ask them on our Google+ page or on our Facebook page or through our About Us page.

Setting price aside and noting that I’m very careful with my iPhone (6s plus variant), would you recommend this case over the Thule X3 (not the X4)? I know the Thule is rated higher but much of that is due to protection, right?
Lastly, which is lighter between the two? Thanks in advance.

The Field Case is lighter and you are correct, the X3 is tougher which is why its rated higher.

Have you had a chance to see their Bump Case and if so how does it compare to the Field case?

I’m trying to see if I can get one. It looks like a decent case.
