The texture on the UAG Metropolis is unbeatable
Urban Armor Gear Metropolis Review – A grippy, single-card iPhone 7 folio case
The Urban Armor Gear Metropolis is one of our favourite wallet cases for the iPhone 7. The metropolis currently sits at #3 on our Top 10 Wallet cases for the iPhone 7. If you’re looking for a case to only hold your bus pass, you should definitely get the Urban Armor Gear Metropolis. For us, the standout feature of the Metropolis is the grip it offers your iPhone and the extra protection latch on the cover offers.
For our Urban Armor Gear Metropolis review, we’ve given this case a score of 4.1 Eh’s out of 5. Even if you’re not looking for a wallet case, the Metropolis is worth considering as a regular slim case. If you’re looking for another on-the-go wallet, check out the CM4 Q-card case. Or if you’re looking for a folio case, the X-Doria Engage Folio might be worth looking at.
Want to know what the best case for you iPhone 7 is?
Design – FrogSkin?
For design, the Metropolis is covered in UAG’s FrogSkin texture. It feels soft but isn’t rubbery enough to pull out your pockets. The material of the cover is the biggest draw for use to the Metropolis. The Metropolis is thicker than your average case which is expected because of the cover. Surprisingly, the case is quite slim when compared to the average iPhone 7 case.
The biggest downside in our opinion is how loose the case is. It only takes a bit of pressure to peel the case off the iPhone. Aaron’s fingers are quite finicky, and he ends up always peeling the iPhone on and off the case.
The Metropolis will wear decently over time. And as we’ve said before, the iPhone isn’t going to slip out of your hand because of all the texture.[divider][/divider]
Protection – Better protection than other drop-rated cases
The Metropolis is drop-tested to Mil-STD 810G, but UAG doesn’t specify a height. We just assume that it is 4ft or 1.2 m. The Metropolis is going to offer more protection than the average case because of the latch design in our opinion. The latch attaches to the back of the case which keeps the entire case together during a drop. The additional protection doesn’t occur for other folio cases like the X-Doria Engage Folio.

Functionality – Handling might be a little funny
We didn’t have any issues accessing our iPhone 7 in the case. The buttons are easy to use but the one thing we don’t like the bottom of the case. All of UAG’s current iPhone 7 cases are the cutouts at the bottom. Sure it makes sense to make a case that fits both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 but on the 7, it just looks sloppy.
The Metropolis comes with a single card slot which literally can handle a single card. Putting two cards gets pretty tight so as I said earlier, if you need a case for your bus pass, the Metropolis is the way to go.

What did she say about the Urban Armor Gear Metropolis?
(This is our attempt at seeing things from a female perspective):
- “The flap is nice. It’s hidden”
- “Looks good for the price”
- “Not pretty enough. Not for my iPhone but maybe a tablet”

I can’t tell if this has been asked before but can this case be used with a screen protector and still close properly? Thank you
