DBrand vs. SlickWraps vs. Decal Girl – Which skin should you get?

Looking for a way to change the look of your iPhone without adding the bulk of an iPhone case? You should definitely get a iPhone skin! But which brand should you get? What’s the difference between DBrand, SlickWraps and Decal Girl? In short, not much.

We tried covering this in Mobile Reviews Eh!, first live video on YouTube. The live video was awesome but our viewers were way more interested in the live video than the actual skins so we’re going to do an actual review on this.

As a side note, if you drop your iPhone a lot, a skin isn’t going to offer much protection. If you’re looking for protection, we’d suggest that you get a case. Here are the best iPhone 7 cases that we’ve come across so far.

What are the differences between DBrand, SlickWraps and Decal Girl?

For the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, we couldn’t find a big difference between the DBrand and Slickwraps. In fact, we couldn’t tell the difference between the products when viewing the un-used skins side by side. The deciding factor in our opinion is the fact that DBrand had better installation instructions.

The DBrand installation video was paced well and included several tips to help smooth out the corners. DBrand’s instructions focuses heavily on using a heat source (hair dryer) to smooth out corners. Using heat is an important part of a perfect install.

We will admit that we installed our DBrand skin first. If we installed the SlickWraps first, we are confident that we would have had a massive bout of “Techno-Rage”.

The product from Decal Girl wasn’t comparable to the DBrand and SlickWraps. Decal Girl skins leave the edges of your device exposed but are easy to reuse. They also include custom skins which isn’t offered by DBrand and SlickWraps.

The lack of edges on the Decal Girl skin allows you to use your iPhone in other accessories without taking it off. We could fit a Decal Girl skinned iPhone into a Mophie Juice Pack Air. Something we couldn’t do with a DBrand or SlickWrap skin.
