Among the mice we’ve tested, the Kensington Vertical Ergonomic Mouse (and Pro Fit Ergo) shines as a top contender for those seeking budget friendly comfort and functionality. Both products had the same score BUT each product has its own pros and cons.
Both mice feature a 47-degree ergonomic angle may be slightly shallower than average vertical mice, but it offers stability and an easy transition from a normal mice.
One of the stand out handling features is the hand position. Traditional mice that position your hand in a V-shape, Kensington’s design adopts a more natural C-shape, ensuring a secure grip and effortless readjustment.
A notable feature of the Kensington Ergonomic Mouse is the small lip for your pinky, which prevents it from dragging and ensures smoother movements. On the Kensington Vertical Ergonomic Mouse, the DPI settings range from 800 to 2400, while the Kensington Pro Fit Ergo has a DPI range of 800-1600 (why isn’t it the other way?). The last thing to note is that the sensor on the normal version of the mouse works on glass surfaces while the Pro Fit Ergo does not.
Both Kensington variants boast a sleek design, with the main body featuring a soft rubber coating for added comfort during prolonged use. However, while the darker variant sports a matte finish on the buttons, the white version’s glossy buttons feel greasy.
Unfortunately, Kensington’s software support falls short of expectations. While available for the Pro version, it fails to recognize the recognize the thumb buttons on Mac OS. Additionally, the audible clicks of the buttons may prove distracting in quieter environments. The one upside of Kensington’s software is that you can customize the scroll wheel on the Pro Fit Ergo to recognize the speed at which you’re using the scroll wheel.
The Kensington Vertical Ergonomic Mouse, presents an excellent value proposition. It combines ergonomic design, sensitivity, and affordability. Despite some shortcomings in software support and button noise, it remains a top contender for those seeking a reliable and comfortable mouse for everyday use.
The Kensington Pro Fit Ergo is going to cost you $15 dollars but offers a bit more functionality through Kensington’s software.

When it comes to our product testing, we rank products on a multitude of criteria. For vertical ergonomic mice, approx. 35% of the score revolves around the comfort/wrist relief the mouse might provide.
If your primary concern is alleviating wrist pain and you’re less focused on performance, Evoluent’s ergonomic mice might be your saving grace. For this round up, we tested two mice from Evoluent, the Vertical Mouse D and the Vertical Mouse 4.
With Evoluent’s mice, their design boasts a nearly 90-degree hand angle, significantly reducing forearm twisting. In fact, the next highest angle is around 60-degrees. Evoluent’s mice are also significantly larger than the average vertical mouse and are quite literal handful’s. Having tested both the Vertical Mouse 4 and the Vertical Mouse D, we can confidently say that the Mouse D reigns supreme but here’s a breakdown of the two mice.
Evoluent vertical mouse D
The Evoluent Vertical Mouse D is a premium vertical ergonomic mouse that stands out among its competitors. It commands attention for its ergonomic design and its hefty price tag, making it the most expensive option in our test of 13 ergonomic mice.
While the Evoluent Vertical Mouse D boasts several unique features, such as grooved buttons, a hand angle close to 90 degrees, and an additional DPI level compared to the average vertical mouse, these features fail to fully justify its exorbitant cost. In fact, despite Evoluent’s pride in their grooved buttons, they didn’t seem to make a significant difference during testing.
One notable aspect of the Evoluent Vertical Mouse D is its substantial size. This size, coupled with its unique button layout and the pinky lip at the bottom, aims to provide comfort and prevent hand fatigue during prolonged use. However, the glossy finish makes it look greasy and contributes to a slippery feel, while the noisy buttons can be distracting during use.
On the positive side, the Evoluent Vertical Mouse D offers the largest pronation angle among its competitors, ensuring minimal twisting of the forearm. The pinky lip does offer some relief from hand fatigue. Nevertheless, these pros are outweighed by the cons, particularly for users who frequently lift their mouse or require customization options.
